Elise's story - thin to immobile

Chapter 1 ~ celebration

Elise knows she should be happy today. Her new family is celebrating her first year with them, being adopted the same date last year. But all she can think about is how Fanny, her older sister, made fun of her weight today.

'Have you seen how tubby Elise is getting lately?' snickers Fanny to their brother, Mikey, who sighs.

'I don't care, Fan', he tells her. 'If anything, she looks happier like that. End of the story', Mikey finishes and leaves the kitchen.

The exchange would have gone unnoticed but Elise meets Fanny's eyes - and Fanny smirks at her.

'Want another piece of cake?' she mocks her.

Elise actually was back in the kitchen for more cake, but she'd never tell her sister that. She had three thick slices already, but wanted to stretch her tummy a little more - she knows Peter loves it when she does that.

She tries to hide the paper plate she was holding in her fist but it's too late. Fanny stops her, grabbing Elise wrist before she can finish her move.

'You're really here for more cake!' she says, surprised.

Elise blushes.

'No wonder why you're looking soft lately... You're going to get really fat if you keep indulging like that, Elise! Is that really what you want?' Fanny says.

'It wouldn't be so bad', Elise says. 'I'd get to eat all the cake I want and nobody would be bothered by it...'

'What's happening here?' someone suddenly asks, breaking the exchange.

Elise recognizes that voice immediately. It's their father talking to them.

'Elise is getting fat', Fanny says, 'and I'm concerned for her health'.

'-No you're not, Fanny, you're just picking on her. Leave her alone. Oh, and El, you should get yourself another piece of that cake. It's really good', he tells them, winking..

Fanny looks suspiciously at his father as he leaves the kitchen.

Elise smiles and retrieves her plate, now crushed in her sister's fist. She takes her time cutting herself an enormous piece of cake before heading to her bedroom.
