Chapter 1
My mother in law and I had never really gotten along very well even before I married Sally. But things got worse after our wedding, when Sally, at my encouragement started gaining weight. Janice, my mother in law, always saw her daughter as the slim, lithe, little cheerleader type. I new better, Sally had always dieted to keep the figure her mother insisted on. She had a killer appetite and loved to eat. After our wedding, she rapidly gained weight, she went from a size 6 to a size 12, with the growth mainly in her tummy and bottom. My favorite places on any women’s body, especially when they have been fully enhanced.I, on the other hand stayed in pretty good shape. It was difficult for me to maintain my weight, since I loved to eat also. I had been pretty heavy in college gaining the freshman fifteen and then some. I ran every day and worked out a couple of times a week. Sally teased me about who I was staying is shape for and she told me more than once that she would not mind if I gained some weight also (she felt guilty that she had gained so much).
Our normal routine in the morning was that I got up first, went and ran, got Sally up and then took a shower. Sally would then shower, fix breakfast and then off to work. Sally had just started here dream job and being new could not take much time off. I owned my own business, which was doing fairly well and I didn’t have to be there all the time.
On weekends we would hang out or go and visit Janice. The friction between Janice and myself was increasing, especially with any new weight Sally gained. She was on Sally all the time we were at her house. Meal times were the worst, she would serve Sally salads or uncooked vegetables, but I would be served huge portions, which I always ate to keep the peace.
Sally usually just brushed off her mothers rantings, but it drove me nuts.
Well, suddenly things changed for me in a big way. I was jogging one morning and fell. I wasn’t paying attention and ran into an open ditch on the street. I broke on ankle and tore up the opposite knee. At the hospital Sally and discussed what to do during my long recovery. She could not stay home with me, since she had just started at her new job. Our insurance would not pay for someone to stop in to help, since I could not walk. We were in a quandary for a solution, when Sally spoke to her mother. To our surprise, she volunteered to take care of me in her home. I was stunned, we had never gotten along, but with the situation, I had no choice.
When I got out of the hospital, we drove up to Janice’s house. She was very nice to me, very helpful and didn’t even mention Sally’s weight. I knew I should have been suspicious of some ulterior motive, but we were so relieved to have found a solution to our problem that it just never occurred to me.
