chapter 1 - the day that changed everything

Harry made sure to get home early that day.

He parked his beat up, barely working car and raced up the stairs, the elevator out of order, still (not that he remembered it ever being in order.)

He opened the apartment door, and found his wife Kelly had also just got off her shift at the diner.

"Hey honey! How was work?" She said, before noticing the frantic look in his eyes. "Is something wrong?"

"I did it."

She was confused, then her eyes widened.

"You didn't."

"I found some extra cash between the cushions, and I bought a lotto card. With our lucky numbers of course."

"Harry..."

& quot;And sure enough, I was listening to the broadcast in my car, and sure enough...."

He brought out the lotto card and showed it to her.

"All the numbers matched."

She was stunned. He put his hands on her shoulders and pressed his forehead against hers, brushing the red hair out of her face.

"We're rich, Kell. No more diner, no more sales representatives, and no more scrounging to make ends meet."

"Harry, I don't know what to say..."

"I'll tell you. Remember what i said on my wedding night?"

She came to a realization.

"Can.. can we?"

"Of course."

They thought to their wedding night. Harry in an ill fitting suit, Kelly in a hand me down dress. They both had grown up very, very poor, and the little bit of excess they enjoyed that night seemed like the most they would ever experience.

But what the few people who attended the wedding that night didn't know was what had brought the two lovebirds together.

A mutual interest.

"Your going to make me fat?" She asked.

"No, Kelly. We are going to make you fat. We are going to use every last ounce of this money to add more and more ounces to you, babe. If that is what you want, right?"

She turned away.

"this is all happening so fast. Should we? What will people think?"


"We have enough money that we never have to worry about what anyone thinks ever again, for the rest of our lives."

She turned towards him, determination in her eyes.

"Ok. let's do this."
